The Anti-Spam Blueprint: 6 Rules for Mass Messages That Actually Make Money

Tired of mass messages that get ignored? Learn the 6-step framework the top 0.1% of creators use to craft DMs.

Stop Sending Spam. Start Driving Sales

It’s one of the most common questions we get at AGL: "What is the best mass message strategy?"

It’s a fascinating question because while creators know it's a powerful tool, most are using it completely wrong. They treat it like a blunt instrument, spamming their entire subscriber list with low-effort messages and then wondering why no one buys.

Let’s be clear: a poorly executed mass message is worse than sending no message at all. It annoys your fans, devalues your brand, and leaves money on the table.

But a strategically crafted mass message? That’s a different story. It can reactivate dormant fans, build powerful relationships, and become one of the most profitable tools in your entire business.

Based on our experience managing over 120 top-tier creators, we’ve developed a 6-point blueprint for crafting mass messages that don't just get opened, they get results.

Rule #1: Target a Wide Audience (The 'Specificity' Trap)

When we take over new creator accounts, one of the first things we audit is their past mass messages. The most common mistake? They’re far too specific.

A message that references a niche fetish, a particular outfit, or a specific inside joke is great for a one-on-one conversation, but it's poison for a mass message. If only 10% of your audience understands or cares about the reference, you’ve just wasted an opportunity to engage the other 90%.

The Fix: Before you hit send, ask yourself: “Will the vast majority of my audience understand and appreciate this?” Your mass messages should be built on broad, universal appeals that resonate with as many fans as possible.

Rule #2: It Can't Be Transactional Every Time

The only ROI from a mass message is not how much money it makes right now. If your fans feel like every single DM from you is an attempt to extract money from their wallet, they will tune you out.

Your DMs are your primary tool for building relationships, not just processing sales. Use mass messages strategically to:

  • Gather Information: Don’t know what content to shoot next? Send a poll: “Hey guys! Planning my next big shoot. Would you rather see A or B? Your vote decides!”
  • Build Rapport: Share a quick, interesting thought or a funny moment from your day that doesn't ask for anything in return.
  • Fix Past Problems: If fans felt scammed by a previous manager or a broken promise, send a message to acknowledge it and rebuild trust.

Think of your mass messages like a bank account. You can’t make withdrawals (sales) if you haven’t made any deposits (value, rapport, entertainment).

Rule #3: Always Have a Plan (Planting the Seed)

Sending a mass message without knowing what comes next is a colossal waste of time. You’re just throwing something at the wall and hoping it sticks.

A professional operation has a plan. Every mass message should serve a purpose and lead the conversation in a specific direction.

  • Planting a Seed: "OMG, something crazy is happening later tonight… I can’t wait to tell you about it 😉" This builds anticipation for a future sale.
  • Creating Synergy: When you have a clear plan, your entire team (if you have one) knows the direction of the conversation. It ensures a seamless, authentic experience for the fan, rather than a series of disjointed sales pitches.

Your mass message isn't the end of the conversation; it's the beginning of a new one. Know where you want it to go.

Rule #4: Curiosity is Your Currency (The Most Important Rule)

Have you ever considered how many messages your fans get every single day? They are subscribed to dozens, maybe even hundreds of creators. Their inboxes are a war zone of "hey what you doing" and "new content drop."

You cannot compete on volume. You cannot compete on price. There is infinite free content available everywhere. The only thing you can compete on is value, delivered through experience and exclusivity.

Your mass message must spike curiosity. It needs to create a "What the... I need to see this" moment.

  • Bad: "New video uploaded!"
  • Good: "You will NOT believe what I just caught my roommate doing on camera…"

Think like an email marketer writing a subject line or a YouTuber creating a title. If it doesn’t make them stop scrolling and feel an urgent need to know more, it has already failed.

Rule #5: Use Supporting Content (Show, Don't Just Tell)

Attaching a photo or a short video clip is a surefire way to increase engagement. A hot video or an intriguing image can instantly get a fan’s mind into a state where they are more receptive to chatting and spending. You don't need to do it every time, but a well-placed piece of media can be the perfect catalyst to kickstart a profitable conversation.

Rule #6: Sound Like the Creator (The Unspoken Rule)

This seems obvious, but it’s the most overlooked rule of all. If you’re an e-girl who uses specific emojis and slang, your mass messages need to reflect that. If you’re a dominatrix who speaks with articulate, powerful language, your DMs better match.

When there is a disconnect between your public persona and your private messages, two things happen:

  1. Fans Lose Interest: The very thing that attracted them to you is now gone. The conversation feels inauthentic.
  2. You Risk Your Brand: If you (or your agency) are delivering a "voice" that isn't yours, it can damage the brand you've worked so hard to build.

The Fix: Create a "Brand Voice" guide. Fact-find. How do you actually speak on social media? What emojis do you use? How do you type your ellipses? These small details create synergy and make the fan feel like they are truly talking to you. It’s the final, crucial piece of a professional mass messaging strategy.

Get these details right, and I promise you, you’ll get more out of every single message you send.
